The Jarowair people are the Traditional Custodians of country in the eastern Darling Downs region of Queensland, including areas around the Bunya Mountains and Toowoomba. With a deep spiritual connection to the land, sky, and waters, the Jarowair people have maintained cultural practices, language, and sacred knowledge for thousands of generations. The Bunya Gatherings, held in their ancestral lands, were vital ceremonial events bringing together many First Nations groups. Today, the Jarowair people continue to honour their Ancestors and protect their Country, culture, and community through leadership, storytelling, and cultural preservation.
